Beautylish Spring Trend Preview Event :: 03/22/2011 :: The "W" Hotel

Hi everyone! So yes i was lucky enough to get invited to join the Beautylish Event that was held on 03/22/11 at the W hotel in Los Angeles/Westwood.

I was super excited, because I went to the last one they held about 5-6 months ago. (see blog post about it >HERE<) Although i was super shy at the last event (in October 2010), i did meet Jarmaine (Jlovesmac1) and took a picture with her and met Suzy (MacNC40) and Lauren (QueenofBlending) and took a picture with them as well.

At the last Beautylish event, i saw Anne (Yummiebitez.com) and also Heart (youtube/com/thatsheart).. but i didn't go up to them because i was EXTREMELY shy to do so! lol..

I also had always wanted to meet April (AprilAthena7) and Jackie (JaaackJack on YT) - and was SO excited when they told me they were going to be going to the event!

We all had been tweeting each other back and forth and i thought this time around - i WILL say hi to them! lol.. and surely i did - i got to hang out with them and they are ALL such amazing ladies!

I was even able to meet Dulce (Dulcecandy.com) and Sonia (Soniaccastaneda on YT). and took a picture with them as well - SUCH beautiful ladies i swear! 

i had TONS of fun! here are the pictures that i took with everyone! Karen and I were freakin' twins haha! so funny! Here are the pictures (i seriously thought i took more, but guess i was having fun mingling!) i'll do a mini video on the goodies soon!

I'm so thankful that Beautylish invited me to this event. Thanks to my sister-in-law Karen for coming with me! I hope they have another event because I will definitely be attending! I'm so happy that i met these amazing ladies and i truly do hope we all continue to be friends! Stay tuned for the video with all the goodies! 




I will mention that i cannot BELIEVE our goodie bag! it was FILLED! the bag was so heavy! i'm so excited! I have been using a few of the products and i'm just so happy that i was able to join this amazing event!

Gym Session :: 03/24/2011 + new shoes! (Vibram FiveFingers)

So today I had an early eye dr appt and also another appt for my migraines/my knee.. and after those appts decided to go to the gym with hubby.

So it was another leg day, but the workout would be the opposite from the other leg day i did - meaning instead of the quads being the dominant muscle worked, today's leg workout focused on the hamstrings and just worked out the quads lightly.

here is what I did..

Hamstrings/Glutes:
- Romanian Deadlifts: i did not want to push myself to the max because of my knee pain.. but i did do the olympic bar, which totaled weight i did was 95lbs, i did 5 sets of 5 repetitions.

- Good Mornings - 45lbs olympic bar no additional weights - this really put a lot of pressure on my bad knee, so i couldn't add anymore weights, but my hammies did get a good workout from these two exercises. i did 3 sets of 8 repetitions.

Quads:
- Seated Leg extensions (machine) - 40lbs - 3 sets of 12 repetitions

Biceps:
I was supposed to workout triceps, but decided to just do biceps instead lol
- Alternating Seated Dumbbell Curls - 17.2lbs each hand - 5 sets of 5 repetitions
- Hammer curls (using the cables) - 30lbs - 3 sets of 8 repetitions

and that completed the workout. I am going to start adding more days to my routine, if you've noticed i haven't been able to post as much my routines or go as much these past two weeks because of my darn knee. as much as i would push myself, i'd be taking two steps backwards.. so i decided to really take a week off to rest my knee. 

Hubby and I went to runners circle, because we had both been wanting to get the Vibrams for quite some time - he's been doing a lot of research on the shoes and thought it'd be great for the both of us. 

So we decided to go check them out in person, try them on and purchase them. My Hubby got the all black KSO's and i got the same ones as he did, but in grey and pink. they look like this:

I had tweeted about them on twitter, and had a few responses that they were ugly or WTF are those, why?! .. LOL.. well that's nice, because im not wearing them to be pretty or for a fashion statement. if you want to know what they are for, i encourage you all to check out the website www.vibramfivefingers.com to read more about it. 

NO i do not work for them, NO I am not affiliated with them in any way. My Husband and I have researched about these shoes and we wanted them :) 

but i'm looking forward to using them. i'm sort of just breaking them in (wearing them around the house, trying to get my feet used to them etc).. looking forward to strengthening my legs/feet! it's going to be interesting lifting weights in these!

Gym Session :: 03/19/2011

Hubby and I decided to go late night gym session because we were so busy with the morning (little one had a dentist appt) and other errands, and then we hung out with my brothers and their gf's and went to the mall.. and it was my first time going to LUSH store! didn't even know we had one here until i saw it!

it was real fun! i'll elaborate more on a different post.. but here is what we did during our upper body gym session. (really easy workout tonight)

Back:
Lat Pull Down Machine - 70lbs - 5 sets of 5 repetitions
High Row (cable machine) - 60lbs - 3 sets of 8 repetitions

Shoulders:
(Warm up exercise) Bent over Dumbbell Lateral Raise - 15lbs each hand - 3 sets of 8 repetitions
Military Press (dumbbells) - 15lb each hand - 5 sets of 5 repetitions

Calves:
Standing Calf raises - 3 sets of 20 (no weights)

that pretty much was it! :D

Gym Session :: 03/14/2011

Hello, Hello! 

So today is.. you guessed it.. LEG Day! lol.. 

so Karen came along with me and this is the workout we did..

Legs:
- Squats (with olympic bar+ weights) 115lbs - 5 sets of 5 repetitions
- Leg Press (machine + add on weights) 100lbs - 3 sets of 8 repetitions

a leg exercise for the hamstrings:
- Leg Curls (machine)  70lbs - 3 sets of 12 repetitions

Biceps:
- Alternating Seated Dumbbell Curl - 15lbs each hand - 5 sets of 5 repetitions
- Standing Hammer Curls - 15lbs each hand - 3 sets of 8 repetitions

and that was it for today..was a super awesome workout! my legs were already dying after the squats! i'm going to post a video of my doing my max squats of 135lbs.. when i was on the other routine.. i was surely proud of myself lol.. but great accomplishment.. but that's for later!

anyway im super exhausted from cleaning around the house and stuff.. so til tomorrow! :) toodles!

Gym Session :: 03/13/2011

Hey Everyone! I know it's been awhile since my last post - but a lot has happened and i've just been overwhelmed with life itself lol.. but i've been super busy with family & work, it has left me with barely any time for me to catch up here. 

But i did want to at least leave you all with my gym sessions as i had stopped posting them because I had changed the routine i was doing.. but after about 6 or so months of doing it, i'm going back to my original routine. 

so this is Today's gym session. Had to go it alone because hubby is injured (he injured his ankle at a basketball game) and Karen had to reschedule. 

so it was an upper body day for me..

Back:
- Bent Over Barbell Rows - 40lbs - 5 sets of 5 repetitions
- Cable Rows - 70lbs - 3 sets of 8 repetitions

Chest:
-Flat Bench Press (olympic Bar + weights) - 70lbs - 5 sets of 5 repetitions
- Incline Dumbbell Press - 20lbs each hand - 3 sets of 8 repetitions

Abs:
- 3 sets of 30 regular crunches
- 3 sets of 30 leg lifts

Calves:
standing Calf Raises (holding 10lb dumbbells each hand) 3 sets of 18 repetitions

that pretty much summed up the night.. luckily it was late on saturday and the gym was pretty open.. till tomorrow..
